Instax DIY Year2 Davao

Artisan Life Crafting + Workshop Happenings

And so the very first DIY event of Instax here in Davao just happened few weeks ago…

I was already anxious {like I always am. I wonder if anxiety will ever leave me} few days before because I get jitters every time I talk in public. Moreover, on a stage. Gaah!

This is my first craft demo this year {aside from my workshops} and I’m not sure if I’m ready for it. On that day though, I just said “let’s get this over and done with,”

So the event was held in Robinsons, Abreeza Ayala Mall and when I got there before lunch, the set was already beautifully done by my friend Florence of Ocassions.

Yellow Hauz was also part of it so my anxiety got a little diverted because I need to prepare the instax coffee drink and assist my barista on what to do. We also had pastries with instax theme from Cake Gallery.
Various instax cameras were displayed and instax photos were everywhere.Slowly after lunch, the crowd was already starting to fill in the seats.

Media, bloggers and invited guests were greeted with a loot bag of instax bag, 1 box of film, instax usb, sharpie and washi tape. Then after they registered they had an instax photo opt that served as their raffle ticket for the prizes. Like as if the loot bag was not enough as a prize. Seriously, it was raining of goodies. The program was hosted by Ms. Tyrine {Marketing Head of Instax – right} and Ate Jojie {co-evangelist of instax – left}. They were so comfortable on the stage, making me wish I had the same energy and confidence… They gave out two instax camera and the first one who won was my friend Bang2 and her kids. Oh the kids were so happy about it… That’s us with the kids. My sister in the middle back and my friend Chiche.Tyrine shared instax photo wall ideas and Moira showed how to use the instax photos as keychains.

Then the last talk was mine… oh boy! I gave a little introduction that the purpose of the DIY event is to give the instax users an idea on how they can further use their photos instead of just keeping it in a box or somewhere else. Thus, came the idea of LampStax. Then I showed them the easy steps on how to do it. I saw someone from the crowd taking notes and I was happy about it because it made me feel that she really wanted to try the DIY project on her own.
Ate Jojie was really so helpful with her funny and energetic vibe. After the DIY talks, we had a little game for the participants. Where they make their own DIY instax. While some were busy with the game, Tyrine was also picking photos for the other prizes. We had Olivia and Diego for the upcycled jewelry, then gift certificates from Robinsons. My friends Chiche and Jj were having fun in the dessert table.Instax coffee were down to its last drop. We were so happy everyone loved it.
Moira loved the instax coffee… and that made me so kilig. Friends from college came to visit me too…After the event, we were just talking on the stage, having our photos taken.

That’s {left to right} Ate Jojie, Moira, Ja, Me and Tyrine. Joel is missing in the picture. These three flew in from Manila just to make the event happen. Then the whole team with the suppliers. Now, I wanna give a big shout out to my family who never stopped supporting and understanding me. You see, on the day of this event, my sister was also leaving for Canada. We could have spent this day differently, like eat outside the mall or still bond in the house. But instead, they just go straight to the mall with me, opted to have lunch in Italiani’s because that’s my comfort food. And they were in the event all the time.

That day, I was really handling a lot of emotions from being nervous and sad. Of course, I can’t cry too much because I need to be at my best for the event. We didn’t finish the event because we had to drove off my sister to the airport. I was really grateful because I thought, I won’t be able to join them. And yes, to give you a brief, I’m the clingy sister as you can see in our photo, haha. That’s pretty much about it… I ended the day feeling grateful that I was part of this big event and my family was there to experience it too. It’s their first time to see me do a craft demo.

The event was a success too. Everybody went home with a big smile. Then few days after, I received messages that I inspired them to buy instax because of my feed. Ahhh, that really made me so happy.

To those who weren’t able to join us, don’t worry… we have few more surprises:

First, I’ll have a giveaway here in my blog.

Second,Yellow Hauz will have a mini event in relaunching the instax coffee.

Third, I’ll share to you how to make the DIY LampStax so you can also do it even if you weren’t there.

And lastly, the instax team is going to GenSan. Yes! This June 6, we will be in SM GenSan to give you another DIY instax event. More details on that soon.
