Art Journal 09: The Lord Is My Strength | Collage

Art Journal Design Projects

It’s another art journal post here my friends. I hope you’re not getting tired of it yet. But just in case you want to see different post too, don’t worry, this series is about to end soon.

It’s a bit exciting to know I’m a little close to my goal already. So, this is what it feels to totally commit to your goal, haha.

Anyway, for this art journal, I played with collage and brush pen. It’s a simple process but I would like to say, it’s a different approach for me. Even though, I’ve been using almost same materials, there’s always something new to discover.

To be honest, I was a bit unhappy about this at first but turned out to be not so bad afterwards. I guess, one thing I kept in mind was just to enjoy the process and be open to the learnings you get from it.

I got few learnings from this spread. First, I’m really starting to be clear with my color palette or at least, the ones I want to use for now. Which is stick to 1 or 2 colors only. I used to like combining different colors like from my previous journals but maybe for now, I’ve moved on from that.

Another one is try to draft your elements for collage first. The flowers were not intentionally big. But since I just cut the petals right away, I underestimated the size of it and turned out to be gigantic ones.

Lastly, always use a brush or if not, a sturdy card when applying gesso on your journal for a smoother surface. Otherwise, it will end up like a cement like texture.

Here’s a video to show you the process of this art journal 09.

Looking forward to my last 2 more art journals. See you again.
