. . . . . . .

I was invited by my paper supplier to a printing technology show and forum yesterday. I get really excited whenever there’s an exhibit. I don’t know why but I like checking out some new ideas, learn new techniques and you get to meet new people. One of the exhibits I look forward to is the Print and Label. The last time I went to an exhibit like this, my heart pounded so fast, and when I got home, I couldn’t sleep thinking of all the possibilities you can do with all those printers.

This time around, I still feel the same way. However, I assumed I have become more mature that I was able to control myself. Of course, the excitement and the ideas were still there, but the impulsiveness was lessen.

I normally go to this kind of exhibit with a company because you get to share different inputs, then you talk about the necessity and the process of the tools thus make you less impulsive. So, I went with Paolo, also a graphic designer/illustrator and owns Secret Garden. True enough, we learned some new techniques like latching for binding and then we talked to people in-charged.

If you enjoy exhibits like this, then hold your breath because you might also get too excited just like how I felt when I was there. Here are few of the suppliers that really caught my attention.

When you enter SMX Davao, Fujifilm will surely call your attention with their big signage and large format prints. There featured a LED UV inkjet printer using pet film {it’s like an acetate film} as the material for the photo.

They also featured a die-cut machine that can penetrate up to 1-inch thick of carton. You can use this awesome machine with various boxes and a paper-made shelf display {sorry, I don’t know what it’s called, but I hope you get the idea}.

Fujifilm Philippines Inc. {AIBS Advanced Technologies, Inc. #21B 12th Street Brgy Mariana, New Manila, Quezon City; Tel. No: 02 474-4960; 0922-462-3320}

Norde featured a different machine this time. Before they carried the HP flat bed printer, now its the Universal Laser Systems that can engrave and cut wood, acrylic, metal, other material you can probably imagine.

Norde Internation Distributors { 102 Kalayaan Ave., Central, Quezon City; Tel. No: 02 435-9288; 02 435-9288

Kelin Graphics also featured an engraving machine. They had the usual laser kind, but this one was more like an electric drill.

Kelin Graphics System Corporation {1501-1503 V. Fugoso St., Sta. Cruz, Manila; Tel. No: 02 711-1888; 02 740-0999; 02 740-0882}

Laser and engraving was a bit quite popular in the show. Because Primark also carried the same function. What they showed in their samples were used as giveaways like keychain, paper weight and more.

Primark Tooling Industries Corp {208-B Amang Rodriguez Avenue, Rosario, Pasig City; Tel. No: 02 710-1607; 0922-841-6625}

Speaking of giveaways, if you’re looking for one or maybe many, then Marksign can probably help you. From tumblers, pens, bags, umbrellas, planners and more, as in really more. They have everything, I tell you.

Marksign Corporation {2nd Flr, 42 Judge Jimenez Street, Corner K-1st St., Kamuning, Quezon City; Tel. No: 0922-6958; 02 217-0892}

One booth was just about staplers from Paper Pro. Don’t be fooled with those colorful tools because contrary to their playful design, those were heavy duty staplers.

My heart was already pumping fast with all those printers and machines. But when I saw a paper supplier, I think my heart just stopped. All those beautiful papers from Prestige Paper Products, I couldn’t breathe. From matte, linen, metallic and simply plain paper, I could die, metaphorically in a bed of papers.

Fedrigoni Asia {Unit 202 Mancor Corporate Center, 32nd St., Bonifacio Global City Taguig, Metro Manila; Tel No: 0917-851-8798; 02 822 6731

These were only few of the exhibitors, but I tell you, they were already overwhelming. Although their offices were based in Manila, they guaranteed you can get the same services and warranties.

I hope you found anything interesting and can be helpful for your print and production. And if you’re from Manila or planning to go there soon, Print and Label will have their exhibit in SMX MOA on October 10-12, 2013. So marked your calendars friends, because I’m definite, you will surely drool over those new printers and machines.
