Davaoeños were shocked with what happened last night. For those who were not informed yet, there was a bomb incident in Roxas Night Market. And as of last night, there were already 10 casualties and 60 injured.
I normally don’t post issues like this but Roxas Night Market is somewhat home for me. Wacky and I used to have our simple dates there, or simply a go to area if we’re hungry and on a budget. We would eat barbeque, pastil and dirty ice cream and it would only cost us Php100 for both of us. Imagine that! You’d see ukay-ukay or handmade shirts and other things there too. It was one perfect way to experience Davao. As a matter of fact, Wacky and I were just there few nights ago. That is why, it truly breaks both our hearts to see what happened last night.
Few years back, Davao was just another city in the Philippines. Back then, most people heard bad things about our city because of the bombing rumors, drugs and simply less progressive area. They were afraid that Davao was not safe. A lot of people knew nothing about Davao. Up until, Duterte, our former mayor became the president of the Philippines, made a big difference in our city and now, Davao just became popular, in a good and bad way.
However, a lot of people still don’t know much about Davao. I have a lot of friends outside the city who kept asking me about how it is here. Oh goodness! If you only knew… we are living the right balance of work and play.
Having said this, I knew Davao needs more digital influencers. So that people are aware. We need to tell the world how beautiful Davao is. From our beaches, progressing city, the lifestyle and everything else that you need to know. That is why, I’m proud to be part of Davao Digital Influencers.
